What devices support camera scanning?

Scanning is a feature that lets you use your BlackBerry device's camera to capture pictures of barcodes and have them automatically decoded into their UPC representation. While all BlackBerry devices can technically handle the processing of decoding an image, only certain BlackBerry models are able to take a clear enough picture of a common UPC barcode. Because most barcodes are relatively small, you will need a BlackBerry with an autofocus lens in order to take a clear, close-up picture. These devices include:

  • BlackBerry Storm
  • BlackBerry Curve 8900
  • BlackBerry Tour

If you have another BlackBerry device, you can still use all the other features of edocrab by manually inputting the barcode or doing a keyword search.
